Is Learn Hangeul 한글 (Korean Alphabet) in 30 minutes good for learning Korean?

Add to my list

Yes, as your very first Korean video. It teaches Hangul in one sitting, from consonants and vowels through to final consonants, and although the title promises 30 minutes, it takes about 36 and you will need to replay it.

Why it works for learners

This is a learner-made teaching video, not native content, and its job is narrow: getting you to read the alphabet. The order helps, moving through consonants and basic vowels into real word reading, then compound vowels, double consonants and batchim. Because reading breaks come at two points, you test yourself before moving on. Learning to read first means every later resource, from subtitles to menus, becomes more useful, which is why it is worth a beginner's first hour.

What makes it hard

Thirty-six minutes is a lot of new symbols for one go, and you won't keep them all. Compound vowels and final consonants are where most people stall, because the spelling and the sound stop matching in simple ways. Double consonants take time to hear.

How to use it

Don't try it all at once. Watch up to the first reading break on day one, then the compound vowels, then the final part. Read the example words aloud and write each letter by hand. Replay the batchim section a week later.
